When first starting out, writing the homeschool plan can be one of the most daunting parts of the process. It is easy to become overwhelmed by the Curriculum requirements when you aren’t familiar with them.
The NSW Curriculum and Syllabus is detailed on the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) website and I find this overview page is a great place to start – NSW Curriculum and Syllabuses.
NESA have also shared a selection of homeschool plans on their page – Sample Home Schooling Plans. There are a variety of styles on that page so you can see there is more than one way to approach your plan.
The bulk of your plan is going to be your resources and activities that you will be using to meet the curriculum. This will be different for each child and will be dependent upon your style of homeschooling.
There are a large number of ready made curriculum packages available for those that want that option. A quick Google search for homeschool curriculum will return a number of options. I have listed below a few I’ve heard about via Homeschool facebook groups and suggest you do your own due diligence to ensure that any curriculum you purchase is the right fit for your learners. Some popular options include:
- Euka (previously Complete Education Australia)
- Simply Homeschool – Australian based curriculum
- Easy Peasy All-in-one homeschool – this is a free online Christian curriculum, America based.
We have an eclectic style in our homeschool to accommodate our individual learning needs. It has evolved over the years and I’m sure will continue to evolve as my boys grow. Take a look at Our Homeschool Curriculum Resources page to see which ones we have used for each KLA.
