For Science we use a number of resources including Science curriculum workbooks, Twinkl resources, Teachers Pay Teachers resources and random science experiments we come across that look like fun!

Science Curriculum Workbooks

Science Now

Our favourite science workbooks are the Science Now series from Teachers 4 Teachers.  This is because these books are colourful, informative and contain just the right level of written responses for my boys.

The books are divided into sections for Earth and Space Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences/Material World and Biological Sciences/Living World.  The sections make it easy to jump around the different topics for that year to fit in with your schedule.

RIC Publications - Science

We used the Australian Curriculum Science workbooks when we were first starting out.  They are very detailed and provide great background information for the teacher.

However at the time we used them we were still struggling with “too much writing” and the amount of written answers in these books wasn’t a great fit.  Now I use them as a reference for additional information and exercises to add to our topics.

What I love about the RIC Publications website is their preview function!  Each book has a preview PDF that you can flick through to see the table of contents as well as a few pages into the book.  Great when you can’t get your hands on a physical copy to flick through!

Primary Connections

Primary Connections is a Primary School science program from the Australian Academy of Science.

Registered homeschoolers can also access the free science curriculum units by Primary Connections.  Units are available from Foundation to Year 6 and are accessed via your Scootle account.

In the Curriculum Resources section you can filter by year and science strand to find the unit you are after.  These units contain great background information for the teacher!
